Zero is apparently a master of iaido, as he can quickly unsheathe his sword, strike an enemy, and sheathe it back in less than a second. His signature attack is a quick slash with his katana, a blur of metal that can cleave through a near-infinite number of enemies. Throughout the game he is able to dispatch hundreds of enemies using only a katana and throwable items. Zero is a capable and deadly assassin who has honed his abilities to an almost inhuman peak. On his way home, Zero befriends a young girl living next door to his apartment. Zero fights his way to Rose, who commits suicide. His mission failed, Zero visits his psychiatrist to receive his daily Chronos injection and a dossier on his next target, Josh Rose. The scientist is found but immediately killed by V, a Russian mobster, who escapes. The game begins in media res, as Zero is sent to extract a kidnapped scientist from a warehouse. Zero is also repeatedly visited by Comedy and Tragedy, two men wearing lab coats and theater masks, who taunt him about impending disaster in his future. The child is heavily implied to be a young Zero. Throughout the game, Zero experiences recurring nightmares of a child in a primitive hut a man wearing a labcoat bursts into the hut and warns the child to hide moments before being shot dead by the menacing silhouette of a soldier. The player controls a katana-wielding assassin called Subject Zero, as he completes various assassination contracts given to him by his psychiatrist, who also supplies him with ‘Chronos’, a drug that allows him to slow down time and predict the future. The game’s plot is heavily affected by an invasion of an unnamed Asiatic nation, referred to as the “Cromag War,” New Mecca’s faction is implied to have lost the ensuing conflict. Katana Zero takes place in the dystopic, neo-noir metropolis of New Mecca. He can deflect bullets, slow down time for a moment, and dodge attacks by rolling. The player moves horizontally ( side-scrolling ), trying to kill all the enemies of the levels using his sword on various elements of the scenery. In the manner of Hotline Miami, being hit instantly kills. The game also features a real-time conversation system that the player can interrupt Katana Zero does not include any health bars. The player character can deflect bullets with his slash, slow time with a meter that slowly refills, and dodge attacks using rolls.

The player character navigates side-scrolling levels, attempting to kill all enemies in that level using his blade or environmental traps. Katana Zero includes no health bar and being hit will result in instant death. The successive trials 5 allow the player to plan and sharpen his movements. It is a question of excessive violence, of a hypnotic staging, asking the player to react and to improvise quickly. This game is heavily inspired by Hotline Miami 1, 3, 4.

The universe can evoke the Shinobi series, or Ninja Gaiden from the 1980s, but this neo-retro game includes intense, spectacular sequences that take players on a destabilizing experience: ” Katana Zero is a game capable of engaging in” wheelie “on the highway of the homage-cliché, to get out of a long slippage faced with the sling of the meta experience. This two-dimensional action and platform game developed by Askiisoft allows you to play as a samurai, an assassin, with a sharp saber, and multiple acrobatics, in the settings of the fringes of a megalopolis (industrial wasteland, nightclub, prison, highway chase, etc.), and in black and fuchsia colors. He also ties his hair using a yellow hairband. He wears a black one-sleeved bathrobe/kimono-like outfit with gold trim, black hakama pants, and brown geta-like sandals with black straps. Zero has apricot skin, long, black hair that is usually tied into a samurai-like ponytail and brown eyes. He is playable in all the levels with the exception of Dragon Tape. Zero is the main protagonist and a playable character in Katana Zero. In this game you guide the samurai to uncover the mysteries of the world and your past, cutting through crowds of people to reach your objective. This allows the samurai to see the future and grants him a slowed perception of time. In Katana Zero you play as a samurai with a warped perception of time.
